In the mid 1960’s, a close family member was seriously burned in an industrial accident because of a chemical explosion. He was not expected to survive; he had 6 children under the age of 8. Being Catholic at the time, all family members fell to their knees and invoked the power of all the saints, Jesus, the Virgin Mary and anyone else who may be able to help with a miracle! My sister asked our family priest to pray for a miracle, and his response was curt and clear: “There is no such thing as a miracle.” I will never forget this, and, despite my youth and his spiritual authority, I knew he was not correct.
Remember when you could hide in plain sight? Ok, maybe you were only two, but you believed it with your whole heart. You had magic. And you loved watching the grownups hunt for you. What if, as adults, we practiced being invisible at a party or a business meeting where we prefer not being seen? Would it be useful? Would it be fun?
The initial vibration that set the whole of creation to becoming physical form was, we are told, The Word. If The Word can have the power to create the world, then our words must also hold that potential. From a shamanic perspective, words have energy. In the shamanic tradition, there is a healing practice called Word Doctoring, in which a shaman journeys on behalf of a client, asking the spirits for a word or words to help the client heal.
